Metallica is one of only 4 artists to reach this milestone

33 years after its release, Metallica 's self-titled Black Album has reached a major milestone, joining a very short llst of other artists in history to spend more than a decade on the Billboard charts.

According to Billboard , Metallica 's Black Album , released in 1991 and featuring the iconic singles "Enter Sandman," "Sad But True," “The Unforgiven," "Wherever I May Roam,” and "Nothing Else Matters," has just spent its 750th week (#178 this week) on the Billboard 200 chart, as revealed in a tweet from @BillboardCharts.

Metallica's Black Album , which was the band’s first number 1 album in the U.S. after spending four weeks at the top of the chart when released, just celebrated its 30th anniversary in 2021, and as reported now joins only three other albums in history to have spent at least 750 weeks on the Billboard 200. After reentering the chart in 2020 at #200, the Black Album became the fourth longest-charting album in history at 580 weeks, and following the 30th-anniversary re-release, the record was catapulted once again.

The others included in the limited club would be Pink Floyd 's The Dark Side of the Moon at 990 weeks, followed by Bob Marley & The Wailers ' Legend at 843 weeks, and Journey 's Greatest Hits at 813 weeks.

The band just wrapped up a number of European concerts and festivals in support of their 11th studio album, 2023's 72 Seasons , and will be making their way back to North America and Mexico for a second leg of dates through August and September. Grab your tickets HERE .
