Dallas Cowboys’ Jerry Jones Earns Rough Take From NFL Analyst

    By Matthew Schmidt,

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones didn’t do much of anything this offseason. He only signed one free agent. He didn’t make any trades. He also coordinated some questionable draft picks.

As a result, Bleacher Report’s Brent Sobleski has listed Jones as one of the biggest losers of the NFL offseason.

Sobleski called the Cowboys’ offseason a “failure,” noting that Jones’ insistence on the club being “all in” obviously fell flat.

He also notes that Dallas lost numerous key pieces, such as running back Tony Pollard and offensive linemen Tyron Smith and Tyler Biadasz.

Sobleski doesn’t mention that the Cowboys also saw edge rusher Dorance Armstrong Jr. walk, and to the division-rival Washington Commanders, no less.

On top of all of that, Dallas has failed to extend any of its key players up until this point. Dak Prescott and CeeDee Lamb are entering the final years of their respective deals, and Micah Parsons became eligible for a contract extension this offseason.

There is obviously still time for the Cowboys to strike pacts with their trio of stars, but with training camp quickly approaching, things are getting pretty tight.

Can the Cowboys finally make a deep playoff run?

Dallas just cannot seem to shake its playoff demons.

The Cowboys have not advanced past the Divisional Round since January 1996, which was the last time the franchise won the Super Bowl.

Since then, Dallas has collected a grand total of four postseason wins.

The Cowboys have actually reeled off three straight 12-win campaigns, but they have just one playoff victory to show for it.

This past season was particularly embarrassing for Dallas, which resembled a Super Bowl contender all year long before getting blasted by the Green Bay Packers in the Wild Card Round.

The Cowboys had previously been undefeated at home in 2023, but they then found themselves behind 27-0 within the blink of an eye.

The pressure is certainly on Dallas to make a playoff run this coming season. The Cowboys certainly have the pieces to do so, as they boast one of the NFL’s best defenses, and while their offense certainly has some holes, Prescott remains one of the top quarterbacks in football.

We’ll see if Dallas can finally break through in 2024.

If the Cowboys actually do make a deep playoff run, Jerry Jones will at least be somewhat vindicated.
