    Swimmer saved by fishermen after being swept from New York to New Jersey and treading water for hours

    A swimmer has been saved by fishermen after being swept from New York to New Jersey . Peter Ordane only survived after spending hours treading water and eventually being rescued by hero workers on Monday.

    The 34-year-old entered the water in Queens and ended up two miles from the shoreline of Sandy Hook in New Jersey .

    A 911 call was made to police in Middletown Township about a man being pulled from the water around 9am.

    He was spotted by a commercial fisherman and his son treading water , and brought aboard. The fisherman took Ordane back to Monmouth Cove Marina in Port Monmouth - a 50-mile drive from where he went into the water.

    Ordane believes he got in the water near Breezy Point and got pulled out from the tide . He said he was treading water for hours before the fishermen discovered him, according to 6ABC.

    Ordane was in good condition after being checked over at the scene . He got some dry clothes and food before making arrangements to get home. Police say the fisherman and his son saved Ordane's life.
