Nine Inch Nails collaborates with Dr. Martens for the 'Downward Spiral' shoes you deserve

After an initial tease that left fans wondering, a new look at Dr Martens' boot and shoe collaboration with Nine Inch Nails celebrating 30 years of The Downward Spiral is finally here.

Just last week fans got a first look at a planned collaboration between Industrial rockers Nine Inch Nails and beloved boot brand Dr Martens , which showed only a bare-bones idea of what the final product would be. Now, after a closer look at the three different styles (four if you're lucky) available starting on July 19, it's more than likely fans will be putting in a few repeat orders.

The three different variations of Nine Inch Nails boots include the "3-Eye" shoe which will come in black and features a “Crystal Teeth” design taken from The Downward Spiral album art. The "8-Eye" boot will come in black and white showing some original album artwork from the cover as well. Finally, the "10-Eye" boot is inspired by the band's dusty and decayed stage performances during The Downward Spiral era where they would cover themselves in corn flour for that post-apocalyptic chic look. Additionally, one “exclusive” style of "10-Eye" boots will not be available for public purchase and will be “gifted to the band’s most ardent supporters.” No further details have been made available just yet.

“This collaboration just makes so much sense,” the band’s creative director, John Crawford , said. “Not just because of the countless fans I’ve seen wearing Dr. Martens at NIN concerts over the years (myself included), but because NIN and Dr. Martens are both known for rejecting convention and expectation in favor of innovation, with their distinctive ability to transcend genres and styles in a way that is unique to each person who experiences them.” Crawford adds, “the goal was always to make this collection feel as authentically Nine Inch Nails as possible, and I believe through close collaboration with the team at Doc’s we’ve succeeded in that.”

The collaboration in essence is, "a physical response to Nine Inch Nails’ visceral, ground-breaking album. Our exclusive collaboration celebrates the 30th anniversary of 'The Downward Spiral.' A musical monolith that transcends genres through an exploration of the bleakest themes and yet manages to reject nihilism for hope," Dr Martens says on their website.
