On Friday, July 12, the Waverly Fire Department (FD) was dispatched to a structure at 184 Wikle Drive Apartment 6a.

Engine 1, Ladder 1, Rescue 2, and Engine 3 responded, made a rapid interior attack, and extinguished the fire while keeping it contained to the initial unit.

According to a report from Waverly FD, on arrival, fire department personnel found a working structure fire in an apartment. The fire was approximately 20% involved. Personnel deployed hand lines and made an aggressive interior attack. The fire was found to be in the attic and had spread down an exterior wall. After extinguishing any hotspots, the Ohio State Fire Marshal’s office arrived on scene to investigate at request of the Waverly FD.

The Waverly Fire Department was on scene for approximately one hour and 15 minutes. Once the fire was determined out, fire department personnel removed medications and some personal belongings and turned over to the resident. The estimated losses were between $3,000 and $12,000.

It is surprising they saved the basement. Is always been a longstanding joke about how terrible and inadequate this volunteer fire department is.Keep a garden hose close, good insurance against an incompetence system.
