Anyone looking for a rent-friendly idea for how to revamp your space is going to want to check out how one couple gave their front doorstep a complete makeover using tiles from IKEA.

The best part about this renovation option is that you don't need a whole lot of tools or skills to pull it off, which makes it easy for a new DIYer to test their skills, or to learn something new.

Take a look at this video to see what we mean and then start scoping out your place to see where you could try this out.

Replying to @shelly i wanted to use these on our back patio but they were too expensive 🙃 im glad I at least got to use them here! #ikeafinds #ikeamallsten #ikeadecktiles #porchmakeover #porchdecor

A dozen or so Mallsten tiles is all it took to take this entryway from drab to fab, according to @the.modberry , who showcased their handywork for their TikTok followers.

It looks like this update was a two part deal, which involved first laying a few base pieces to ensure that the tiles stayed where they were supposed to. Next, they used some stunning black and white outdoor tile to create a beautiful surface to show off their plants and new doormat.

We honestly can't believe how quick and easy this IKEA transformation looks!

A few commenters had questions about the process, including whether the tiles are slippery when wet (the OP says they are not), which got us thinking about all the other ways you could use these tiles.

Woman Transforms Patio Using IKEA's Outdoor Tiles

You can give those outdoor living areas a refresh using this same process, just like this woman did in her short video where she updated her patio using a different type of IKEA tile.

Instead of the slick ceramic kind used by the OP, this woman opted to use the faux wood variety, which comes textured and with a Pergo flooring feel. We actually have some of these at home ourselves, and we can vouch for how easy they are to use and their durability, since we're on the fourth year of having them in our outdoor spaces .

That being said, these really are best used on a flat and level surface because of the way the base of the tiles interlock, and if you're on uneven flooring you may have a hard time getting a flush finish, which can cause some tiles to stick out, causing uneven wear and tear.

If you want to give the OP's vision a try at your home, you'll need to remember that the tiles and bases are sold separately, so remember to add both items to your shopping cart when you go to buy them.

Additionally, while the OP says these don't get slick when it rains, remember that if you're in a climate that sees snow and ice, you may have a harder time shoveling over these, which could cause more slippery conditions!

Other than that, we hope that everyone gets a chance to create something this wonderful for their home.
