Been writing songs since she was a tiny tot... even before she could actually write them down. Songwriting is the heart and soul of country music, and nobody knows this better than Dolly Parton . From her mega hits like "I Will Always Love You," to her more comical efforts with songs like "Dumb Blonde," or reminiscing about her Tennessee home with "Tennessee Homesick Blues," Dolly Parton can write about anything. While some might believe she became this way as she learned the ropes of the music industry, Parton was born with the knack to make a song about anything. In a
Wire.com interview, Parton recalled that the first song she ever wrote was pieced together before she could even write, but she remembers every single word. "What was Dolly Parton's first song? Well, the first song was actually before I started writing. It was before I could write it down. I was about five years old, and I had a little cob doll that Mama made me, and I named her Tiny Tassel Top, because she had corn tassels for hair. So, I wrote a little song... 'Little Tiny Tassel Top, I love you an awful lot Hope you never go away I want you to stay...' Ta-dah! But I started writing songs when I was young. And my first record was called 'Puppy Love' when I was ten years old."
If that doesn't say she was meant to be a star, I don't know what does. And I must admit it shows how sharp Parton's mind is, too, that she remembers a song she composed at the young age of 5. Meanwhile, I can hardly remember what day of the week it is. While the silly song at 5 has no true mark on her career, it does show her brain has continuously stirred with rhymes and rhythms. A true songwriter through and through. https://www.instagram.com/p/C9IewZgvBd2/?hl=en
