Netflix has finally released The Deliverance trailer for its newest supernatural horror thriller, starring Oscar nominees Andra Day and Glenn Close. The film is scheduled to make its debut on August 30, 2024.

Check out The Deliverance trailer below (

    ):

What happens in The Deliverance trailer?

The trailer features Day as a single mother whose life changes when her three children get suddenly possessed by unknown dark forces. It highlights some of the film’s terrifying sequences, including an exorcism scene involving Oscar nominee Aunjanue Ellis. The film is inspired by the true story of Latoya Ammons, who, in 2001, was plagued by supernatural occurrences after moving into a new house.

“Ebony Jackson, a struggling single mother fighting her personal demons, moves her family into a new home for a fresh start,” reads the official synopsis. “But when strange occurrences inside the home raise the suspicions of Child Protective Services and threaten to tear the family apart, Ebony soon finds herself locked in a battle for her life and the souls of her children.”

The Deliverance is directed and produced by Lee Daniels from a screenplay by David Coggeshall and Elijah Bynum. This marks Daniels and Day’s latest collaboration following 2021’s The United States vs. Billie Holiday, which earned Day a Golden Globe award for Best Actress. The film also stars Mo’Nique, Anthony B. Jenkins, Miss Lawrence, Demi Singleton, Tasha Smith, Omar Epps, and Caleb McLaughlin. It is produced by Tucker Tooley, Pamela Oas Williams, Jackson Nguyen, and Todd Crites, with Jackie Shenoo, Hilary Shor, Greg Renker, and Gregoire Gensollen set as executive producers.
