ESPN analyst bites back on "moronic" claim that Bills QB Josh Allen is overrated

You wouldn't think that Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen would still be a polarizing figure after all he's accomplished in the NFL.

But there's apparently no pleasing some people.

In a recent rating of the 10 best quarterbacks put together by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler , league executives, coaches and scouts weighed in on the subject, and one prominent executive had little good to say about Allen, who ranked third overall behind Patrick Mahomes and Joe Burrow.

"One of the more overrated players in the NFL," the executive said. "Immense talent, but he makes a lot of mistakes. He's underdeveloped at winning at the line of scrimmage, tends to lock on to targets, more of a thrower than precision passer, forces throws into traffic."

Well, you could say that some of the more random aspects of Allen's play that occasionally show up in the negative side of the column are also what make him special when they work, which they do more often than not.

ESPN's Dan Orlovsky, one of the most prominent and well-respected quarterback analysts in the field, was having none of it when he was asked about the Allen take on Tuesday's episode of "Get Up."

Orlovsky has several points here. Allen's inability to bring a Lombardi Trophy to Buffalo has been more about his supporting cast than his own foibles, and in total, Allen has been as complete an offensive weapon as anybody at the position.

This is yet another example of why a lot of NFL people demand anonymity when they give quotes -- because some of the stuff that comes out of their mouths and keyboards doesn't make a lot of sense.
