Tiger Woods is back in action at the British Open, and while he’s lost a lot of luster in recent years, there are still people out there betting on him to win.

If you’re a fan of burning cash, go ahead and follow their lead. Instead, we’re going to look at various odds on Tiger at Royal Troon, and try to identify betting markets where you can actually make money betting on or against him.

DraftKings' prop bets & odds on Tiger Woods at British Open

Let’s start our discussion with top finishing position odds on Woods in the 2024 British Open. It’s important to note that these include ties at DraftKings .

    • To Win: +20000
    • Top-5 finish: +4000
    • Top-10 finish: +1600
    • Top-20 finish: +600
    • Top-30 finish: +320
    • Top-40 finish: +180

The problem with betting on Woods is he doesn’t play with any regularity these days due to his health limitations. There’s just not enough regular reps in true tournament conditions.

Tiger’s won the British Open on three occasions — 2000, 2005, and 2006 —but that was in a previous lifetime. He missed the cut in his last two appearances (2019 and 2022) and did not compete in 2021 or 2023.

The only play we’d consider making here on Woods is a top-40 finish at +180. It will likely take a perfect set of circumstances all coming together, and a little magic (and physical durability) over the weekend.

Go ahead and make a $5 bet on Tiger to finish in the top 40. DraftKings will give you either $300 or $150 in bonus bets instantly (the amount depends on the state you're in) just for making that bet as a new customer -- regardless if the wager wins or not. You're effectively getting +6000 (or +3000) odds on a bet that doesn't need to win.

That's one sure way to make money betting on Tiger at the British Open.

Tiger Woods' odds to make British Open cut at Royal Troon?

In British Opens staged at Royal Troon, Woods has finished T-24 (1997) and T-6 (2004). Again, that was many, many moons ago. The top 70 players (and ties) make the cut at Royal Troon this week.

This, at least, is a viable betting market on Woods. Tiger made the cut at The Masters (+110 at DraftKings) and finished 60th. He subsequently missed the cut at the PGA Championship and US Open.

This year, Tiger is offered at odds on Woods to make the cut and -370 to miss the cut. If you're feeling frisky either way, it's worth making a play here instead of swinging for the fences with a win bet.

Feel good about his chances? You can bet $5 on Tiger to play the weekend, and score $200 in bonus bets as a new customer at FanDuel if he does.
