Democrats making early $15M infusion into battleground states

The Democrat National Committee (DNC) is investing $15 million in battleground state parties to help them open more field offices and hire more staffers, less than four months out from November’s election.

A press release from the DNC noted that Democrats already have 217 field offices across battleground states and has employed more than 1,100 staffers.

The funding boost will also assist state parties in getting accurate data and communicating with voters across the states. The DNC said it will help strengthen campaigns so that Democrats can win not only at the top of the ballot but down the ballot as well.

Wisconsin is receiving the largest investment from the DNC, with the national party directing nearly $3 million to the state Democrats. Nevada is receiving the second highest with a more than $2 million investment.

Pennsylvania and Michigan Democrats are receiving nearly $2 million each, and Arizona is receiving nearly $1.5 million. The state party for North Carolina will receive more than $1.2 million and Georgia’s will receive nearly $1 million.

DNC chair Jaime Harrison said the investment reflects the party’s focus on reaching voters in battleground states in a statement.

“Trump’s extreme agenda makes this the most consequential election of our lifetime. That’s why Democrats are leaving nothing to chance, investing heavily on the ground to ensure Joe Biden and Kamala Harris win this election,” Harrison said.

“This election is going to come down to operation and turnout in the battleground states, and that’s why we’ve made the largest-ever investment into battleground state parties at this point in the cycle. We’re going to win this election by engaging voters community-by-community, block-by-block, door-by-door. These investments show that commitment in action,” he added.

The investments come as numerous polls show a close race between President Biden and former President Trump in a number of key swing states. Democratic Senate candidates are also polling well ahead of Biden in a number of swing states.

New polling conducted by YouGov and released Monday showed Biden trailing Trump in the swing states of Arizona, Georgia, Michigan, Nevada, North Carolina, Pennsylvania and Wisconsin.
