UPDATE: Ameren close to complete power restoration across Illinois

CHAMPAIGN COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Ameren’s work to restore power after Monday night’s storms is nearing completion.
An Ameren spokesperson said Wednesday afternoon that only 14 customers are without power. The company’s outage map indicates that most of these customers are in Champaign or Urbana, and the spokesperson said those customers should expect to get their power back before 8 p.m.
No serious outages are still being reported elsewhere.
6:30 p.m. update:
CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — The number of power outages across Central Illinois continues to diminish as Ameren workers address the issues.
In Champaign County, 450 are still without electricity. Meanwhile, 25 Macon County households are in need of power.
Vermilion County has only 11 outages left to attend to.
4 p.m. update:
CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Ameren has continued to work to restore power to Central Illinois.
The number of customers still without power is 1,439 in Champaign County and 1,166 in Macon County, according to Ameren’s outage map. Additionally, 1,210 customers in Vermilion County do not have power.
Statewide, 32,226 Ameren customers are still without power.
1 p.m. update :
CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — Ameren has reported a significantly lower number for customers without power for Champaign County with 1,749 as of 1 p.m. For Macon County, the number of customers without power is 1,199.
Ameren said in a news release 80% of the customers who lost power from Monday evening’s storm will have their power restored by Wednesday at 10 p.m. Officials said customers will be notified of their specific restoration time once established, and additional crews have been dispatched to help.
Ameren urges customers, especially seniors, families with young children, and people with respiratory issues to stay safe in the heat and stay in air conditioning.
Approximately 37,000 customers still do not have power statewide.
CENTRAL ILLINOIS (WCIA) — After storms Monday night, thousands in Central Illinois are still without power.
As of 11:20 a.m., 2,256 customers in Champaign County are without power according to Ameren. Additionally, 1,603 customers in Macon County are without power as listed on Ameren’s outage map.
“A line of severe storms with damaging winds is moving from northwest through the midsection of our service territory,” Ameren Illinois posted on their Facebook page Monday night. “Our Incident Management Team has been activated to coordinate damage assessments and restoration efforts.”
Most people have power restored according to CWLP, as they are dealing with only one outage according to their map.
