A lot has changed since Bill Belichick left the building. Eliot Wolf has been promoted from director of scouting to executive vice president of player personnel, a de facto general manager, and he's calling the shots. The most recent step has been making changes to the personnel department.
The Patriots officially announced these moves on Tuesday:
- Alonzo Highsmith - senior personnel executive
- Casey Belongia - area scout (Midwest)
- Bob Kronenberg - pro scout
- A.J. Richardson - scouting assistant
- Landon Simpson - scouting assistant

The big addition here is certainly Alonzo Highsmith, who will be a top executive for the Patriots — he's only behind Wolf and director of player personnel Matt Groh on the college side. He worked alongside Eliot Wolf for a long time with the Green Bay Packers, where he was a senior personnel executive from 2012 to 2017, and for the Cleveland Browns, as a vice president of player personnel between 2018 and 2019.
Highsmith also worked for the Seattle Seahawks from 2020 to 2022, and had spent the last two years as a GM of football operations at Miami (FL). Now, he's back into the NFL.
Promotions
Eliot Wolf has also decided to value people who were already in the building, with some internal promotions. The big name to watch here is Patrick Stewart, promoted from senior personnel advisor to director of pro personnel. He will be the most important piece of that side of the front office tree, taking care of scouting NFL and minor leagues’ players.
