Zach Bryan released his most recent album The Great American Bar Scene on July 4. The 19-track collection featured several guest artists including John Moreland, John Mayer, and others. The Boss himself, Bruce Springsteen appears on the track titled “Sandpaper.” The track’s ranking on the Billboard Hot Country Songs Chart gives Springsteen his first appearance on the survey.

Currently, several tracks from The Great American Bar Scene are on the Hot Country Songs Chart. “Sandpaper” currently sits at No. 26. Additionally, it sits at No. 71 on the all-genre Hot 100 chart. The song drew 7.1 million streams in the United States and 22,000 impressions on the radio. Additionally, it garnered 1,000 downloads in its first full week per Billboard.

On July 4, Bryan took to Twitter to show his gratitude to the rock icon for appearing on the track. “Thank you for the day, [Bruce Springsteen], thank you for the kind words, thank you for letting me take this picture, thank you for making my whole life a dream of a younger me,” he wrote in the post. Unfortunately, the “Something in the Orange” singer has once again deactivated his Twitter account.

Zach Bryan Gives Bruce Springsteen a Chart First and a Return

“Sandpaper” gave Springsteen his first appearance on the Hot Country Songs Chart. At the same time, it saw the “Born in the USA” singer returning to the Hot 100 for the first time in more than 15 years. His last appearance on the all-genre survey was “Working on a Dream” which peaked at No. 95 in 2009. The collaboration with Bryan marks the Boss’ 27th appearance on the chart.

While it has been a while since Bruce Springsteen has seen chart success, he’s no stranger to the upper registers of the Hot 100. Since debuting on the chart nearly five decades ago, he has launched 12 tracks to the top 10. He has also had one track, “Trapped” top the chart. However, he has seen much more success on the Billboard 200 Album chart. He has landed 11 chart toppers on that survey with another 11 landing in the top 10. His last No. 1 album was High Hopes from 2014.
