Fire Country is poised to burn even hotter, when it begins streaming on Netflix as well as Paramount+.

TVLine has confirmed that Season 1 of the firefighter drama starring co-creator Max Thieriot will hit Netflix on Thursday, Aug. 1 (aka my birthday; I’m registered at both GNC and Chipotle).

Fire Country is thus likely to enjoy a coveted “Netflix Bump” in awareness and popularity ahead of its Season 3 premiere on CBS, on Friday, Oct. 18.

Inspired by Thieriot’s experiences growing up in Northern California, Fire Country stars the SEAL Team vet as Bode, a young convict who, when the series opened, sought redemption (and a shortened sentence) by joining a prison-release firefighting program. But what Bode was not expecting is to be stationed in his rural hometown of Edgewater, where five years prior he (figuratively!) “burned down everything in his life” and then left, harboring a big secret.

The series’ cast also boasts The Closer ‘s Billy Burke and Rescue Me ‘s Diane Farr as Bode’s parents, Vince and Sharon, Lucifer ‘s Kevin Alejandro as Manny, Black Lightning ‘s Jordan Calloway as Jake, Penny Dreadful: City of Angels ‘ Stephanie Arcila as Gabriela and Guilty Party’ s Jules Latimer as Eve.

Sheriff Country : Everything We Know About the Fire Country Spinoff View List

Fire Country with its Oct. 7, 2022 debut delivered the largest audience (5.9 million total viewers) for any freshman series premiere of the 2022-23 TV season. It then went on to average the largest audience of any freshman series (averaging 8 million weekly viewers with Live+7 playback), and emerge as the highest-rated rookie (with a 0.7 demo rating).

Season 2 averaged 7.3 million total viewers, which last TV season was enough to rank No. 6 among all CBS dramas (trailing NCIS , FBI , the terminal Blue Bloods , The Equalizer and the since-cancelled NCIS: Hawaii ).

Fire Country also has spawned the first of potentially multiple spinoffs: Sheriff Country , starring Gotham ‘s Morena Baccarin as sheriff Mickey Fox, the stepsister of Cal Fire’s Sharon, received a series order this May but will not hit CBS until the 2025-26 TV season.
