Keke Palmer’s Latest Video of Baby Leo Hints at How Her Co-Parenting Relationship With Ex Darius Jackson Is Going

Navigating the ups and downs of co-parenting and custody battles while raising a child is not easy — especially if you’re doing it all in the public eye. So, it’s no surprise that Keke Palmer has kept quiet lately about her relationship with ex Darius Jackson, with whom she shares 16-month-old son Leodis “Leo.” But a new video of the baby boy sheds some light onto how co-parenting is going for Palmer and Jackson, and it’s very eye-opening.

The Bosses star shared a video on her Instagram story on Monday, which was originally posted on Leo’s own Instagram account . The video depicts a day at the beach with his dad, where Leo rode in a little car seat hooked up to a bicycle as Jackson rode on a path near the sand. There were also scenes of Leo walking with his dad and smiling on the beautiful sunny day.

The cute caption was written from Leo’s perspective, which read: “Nothing better than a bike ride with my dad on the beach! He didn’t fart on me the whole time and I even snuck in a nap! 😅✌🏾😎” It wasn’t clear who filmed it (Palmer herself or a friend of Jackson’s?), but Palmer did reshare it on her story, so she’s clearly fine with it.

Things between Palmer and Jackson have been tense since last July, when the actress attended an Usher concert and her boyfriend publicly shamed her , writing on Twitter, “It’s the outfit tho … you a mom.”

She seemingly responded to the dig by sharing a video of her and Leo, captioning it, “One thing is certain and one thing is true, IM A MOTHA, through and through! 😍,” she wrote in response to Jackson’s bigoted view on motherhood. “To all my moms out there, how did your baby change you?? Mine empowered me! On such another level, my perspective changed because when my baby is good I’m GREAT!”

They officially split in October, and a month later, Palmer filed a restraining order against her ex, accusing him of physically and emotionally abusing her multiple times over their two-year relationship. She wrote in court documents obtained by Us Weekly that Jackson has had “many instances of physical violence” through the years including him “destroying my personal property, including diaries and prescription eyeglasses, throwing my belongings into the street, throwing my car keys to prevent me from driving away, hitting [me] in front of our son, spewing profanities about me to our son, threatening to kill himself with a gun if I left him, harassment, and other physical and emotional abuse.”

The same month, a judge granted Palmer a temporary restraining order and temporary sole legal and physical custody of their son. In December, Jackson asked the court for joint physical custody of Leo, claiming that Palmer was the “primary aggressor” in their relationship and that she “engaged in abusive behavior” and subjected him to “physical and verbal abuse,” according to documents obtained by Entertainment Tonight.

The court was set to have more hearings to decide on custody this summer, but Palmer and Jackson both requested on May 22 to drop the case, per documents obtained by ET . The outlet also says another hearing is set for December 2025.

Palmer posted a video of Leo swimming with his dad on the Fourth of July, captioning it, “Having fun this 4th at my grandma house! My uncle and grandpappy have a garden, I had to explore 😅. God is good, hope you’re having a good one 😍🫶🏾” This is the first time she’s shared a clip of Leo and Jackson together since Oct. 2023, clearly showing that some sort of agreement has been worked out between the exes to allow Jackson visitation of his son.

It’s impossible to know what goes on in anyone else’s home, but it seems like Palmer and Jackson are working well together right now for the benefit of their son. As long as they keep putting Leo’s happiness and safety first, then we are very supportive of this co-parenting journey.
