EYEWITNESS NEWS (WBRE/WYOU) — Attorney General Michelle Henry has announced a settlement lawsuit against Split Rock Resort in Lake Harmoney.

The lawsuit was for an alleged mistreatment of customers who purchased timeshares at the resort.

Officials say the settlement will require Split Rock Investments, LLC, and SCH USA, LLC to do business as “Bel Air Owner’s Circle” to abide by the laws and fund a restitution pool of up to $250,000 for eligible customers.

As stated in the release, Split Rock violated the Pennsylvania Unfair Trade Practices and Consumer Protection Laws, denied access to the property, and charged excessive maintenance fees and illegal usage fees to timeshare owners.

“This settlement involves significant restitution funds for timeshare owners who did not get what they paid for,” added Attorney General Henry.

Split Rock has agreed to comply with all the laws and will pay $5,000 in civil penalties and $50,000 in costs in addition to the maximum $250,000 restitution fund, as stated in the release.

Officials note the defendants agreed to refund the customers who paid a resort fee as a usage fee for the recreational facilities in instances where customers did not use the facilities.
