Kylian Mbappe has admitted he turned down offers from other clubs in order to realize his dream of playing for Real Madrid .

The French superstar was officially unveiled at the Santiago Bernabeu on Tuesday after completing his move from Paris Saint-Germain. Mbappe’s contract with the French club expired earlier this summer, ending what had been a turbulent spell at times.

The 25-year-old has long been linked with a move to Madrid, and his desire to move to the Spanish capital led to a major falling-out between himself and PSG last summer.

Real aren’t the only club to have been heavily linked with Mbappe over the years though. Any Liverpool fan will tell you just how often his name has cropped up in connection with the Reds.

He did come close to making the move to Anfield back in 2017, with reports claiming that he held a two-hour conversation with Liverpool owner John Henry on his private jet as he weighed up his options before leaving Monaco.

His subsequent move to PSG didn’t stop the speculation, with Liverpool regularly linked to his services. Speaking at his unveiling though, Mbappe made it clear he had no intentions of joining anyone other than Los Blancos.

"I was sure that the time would come,” he said (via 90min ). “I had many offers from other clubs, but I always said the same thing.

“When I left Paris it would be to go to Madrid. In my head it was clear. It was my dream. Many things can happen in football, but this was clear to me."

On finally completing his move to Madrid, Mbappe added: "I feel privileged. It was my childhood dream and I had been waiting for this moment for a long time. Now it is a reality.

“A dream is priceless. My dream was to be a Real Madrid player and now I am one. It is a great satisfaction for me and my family. They know the efforts I have had to make to get here. I am very happy.”

Liverpool.com says: Deep down, every Liverpool fan knew Mbappe was never going to make the move to Anfield once Real Madrid entered the conversation. There is seemingly an admiration for the Reds from the French star, although we can probably now rule out the possibility of him ever arriving on Merseyside now.
