WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) — You have likely heard of the Jury Duty Scam by now.

In it, someone calls claiming to be law enforcement, telling you that you missed jury duty and will be arrested if you don’t pay them immediately. The calls have been rampant across Kansas lately, but this might be a new twist on the scam.

Someone is calling residents of Sedgwick County and claiming to be Sedgwick County Sheriff Jeff Easter. The Sedgwick County Sheriff’s Office issued a warning about the caller Tuesday afternoon.

They are reminding residents that they will never contact you over the phone and ask you to pay a fee or fine.
