The high-octane world of Formula 1 racing is set to blaze a trail across the silver screen with the upcoming movie “F1,” scheduled for a summer release on June 27, 2025, in North America, following its international premiere two days earlier. Under the banner of Apple Original Films and Warner Bros. Pictures, the film brings together the creativity of executive producer Lewis Hamilton and renowned director Joseph Kosinski, alongside producer Jerry Bruckheimer.

“F1” promises a thrilling dive into the intense dynamics of racecar driving, featuring Brad Pitt as a seasoned driver who returns to the circuit to mentor a promising young talent, played by Damson Idris. The evolving relationship between the veteran and the protégé forms the crux of the narrative, set against the backdrop of a fictional racing team, APXGP. The star-studded cast also includes performances by Kerry Condon, Javier Bardem, Tobias Menzies, Sarah Niles, Kim Bodnia, and Samson Kayo, adding depth and diversity to the gripping plot.

The film’s journey to the big screen, however, has faced its shares of hurdles, notably due to industry strikes that disrupted a key filming schedule at the Las Vegas Grand Prix. Hamilton commented on the setback during the 2023 Las Vegas Grand Prix weekend, noting, “If there wasn’t a strike we would be filming one of the really cool scenes here this weekend. But we’ll continue on filming next year so you’ll see them around more. We’ve already got great footage with the demo drivers, who have done a great job, as all the [F1] drivers got to see in Austin [2023]. We’ll keep pushing along. It’s still going to be great, might cost a little bit more but I’m really confident in what Jerry is going to produce.”

Anticipation for “F1” was officially sparked with an announcement on Formula 1’s social media on July 5, 2024, proclaiming, “Finally, official. Brad Pitt stars in F1, coming to cinemas Summer 2025.” Fans of the sport and cinema alike are invited to a sneak peek of the film during the Formula 1 British Grand Prix, further heightening the excitement with the promise, “Sneak Peek this Sunday at the Formula 1 British Grand Prix.”

As “F1” gears up to captivate audiences with its riveting storyline and celebrated ensemble, it stands out as a potential landmark in the genre of sports dramas. By weaving a narrative that delves into personal relationships within the framework of professional racing, the film is set to offer not only edge-of-the-seat racing sequences but also a poignant look at mentorship, competition, and the relentless spirit of the racers and teams involved. This blend of high stakes, personal drama, and the exhilarating world of Formula 1 makes “F1” a highly anticipated release in the cinematic and sporting calendars.
