SHAWNEE COUNTY ( KSNT ) – Residents in rural parts of eastern Shawnee County and western Douglas County were being warned to limit water usage Tuesday.

The Douglas County Rural Water District #3 issued a press release on July 16 on a local water emergency. The district reported it was unable to produce water due to the need for emergency repairs at its water treatment plant.

The district entered a temporary water emergency order and asked local residents within its service area to limit water usage to necessary activities only, according to the release. These included water usage for the purpose of sustaining life, health and personal hygiene including cooking, bathing and drinking. Outdoor water use was discouraged as well

27 News reached out to the district on July 17 and was told by a spokesperson the issue has been fixed and the emergency water order has ended.
