    17-year-old boy dies after being struck by vehicle while crossing road in York County; coroner’s office

    YORK COUNTY, Pa. (WHTM) — A teenage boy from out of state was fatally struck by a vehicle on Thursday when he was crossing the road in York County, according to officials.

    The York County Coroner’s office said in a report that Quinterrion Smith, 17, from Mississippi, died at WellSpan Hospital the day after he was hit.

    Smith’s cause and manner of death are still awaiting an autopsy that is scheduled for Wednesday.

    When he tried to cross the road with a group of friends, in the area of Route 30 and North Hills Road just after 10 p.m., Smith was hit by a vehicle, the report reads. He was critically injured and rushed to the hospital where he then died.

    Smith was traveling in the area with his basketball team, the coroner’s office said.
