Wyatt Flores & Jake Kohn Join Forces On New Single “Before I Do,” For ‘Twisters: The Album’

Three days until we have this album in full. Twisters: The Album might be more hyped than the movie at this point, and rightfully so. The stacked lineup includes enormous industry names like Luke Combs, Tyler Childers, Miranda Lambert, Megan Moroney, and Lainey Wilson but also features some of the best emerging artists on the scene, including Red Clay Strays, Wyatt Flores, Jake Kohn, Tanner Usrey, and Tyler Halverson. The singles released thus far prove that this motion picture and soundtrack are on their way to becoming a cultural phenomenon like The Hunger Games or The Great Gatsby. Wyatt Flores and Jake Kohn let listeners know they are not playing around with their duet "Before I Do." The two have been teasing the track on social media leading up to today's release, and the teaser had me amped up to hear the studio cut. https://www.instagram.com/p/C9X2w6YP_oK/ Wyatt opens the track by laying down a killer start to the song, singing lyrics as a storm begins to roll in, and a couple is caught in the worst of the twister, hoping to make it out alive. After Flores belts out the first chorus, Kohn's deep, raspy vocals come in the second verse. The desperation in his voice is flawlessly conveyed as he sings the chorus, hoping the love of his life makes it out alive, fleeing the twister's destruction and making it to safety. "Never thought that it would end this way Now we're running out of things to say Let the rain come pouring down I'm not afraid to drown Just hope you make it out before I do..." Given that Flores and Kohn have very different vocal ranges, I was unsure how they would pair well together, but they work very well together. The film is a follow-up to the 1996 blockbuster Twister and stars Daisy Edgar-Jones as Kate Cooper and Glenn Powell as Tyler Owens. This motion picture has garnered a lot of hype with the promotional videos and the soundtrack, so I am very excited to finally watch the film with a large Coke and popcorn over the weekend. This should be a good one.
