Real Madrid has reportedly made contact with Trent Alexander-Arnold over a potential transfer .

The Liverpool vice-captain is in the final year of his contract at Anfield , with no extension having been agreed yet. That has led to speculation over his future, with Real having been linked with a move this year.

Now, according to Bild’s Christian Falk , the Bernabeu club has made contact with Alexander-Arnold as its interest becomes "concrete." What’s more, the Reds’ full-back is said to be interested by the approach from Los Blancos.

The 25-year-old is set to take a break following England’s defeat to Spain in the Euro 2024 final. Alexander-Arnold played four times for the Three Lions in Germany, including two starts in the group stage.

New Liverpool boss Arne Slot is yet to meet the academy graduate, with the Reds set to head to the US for a pre-season tour next week. The question of new contracts, with Virgil van Dijk and Mohamed Salah also in the final 12 months of their deals, was raised in Slot’s first press conference earlier this month.

New sporting director Richard Hughes refused to give anything away on any potential discussions , although he downplayed fears of any of Liverpool’s stars leaving this summer.

"Contractual situations, it would not be fair for us to talk about," Hughes added. "These are private matters between club and players. The only concerns we have is total commitment to the cause for next season and we're convinced that is the case."

Liverpool.com says: A new contract for Alexander-Arnold absolutely has to be a priority for Liverpool. Even if the reports of talks with Real Madrid are wide of the mark, there is no way the club should let the situation drag on any longer. The moment he returns from his break, they need to get around a table and put pen to paper – we’ve already seen with Kylian Mbappe what can happen if the club doesn’t act soon.
