    Sapphire Mills Measures Impact With Green Story

    A new partnership provides Sapphire Mills with the data needed to support its sustainability claims.

    The Pakistani manufacturer of woven, dyed, and printed fabrics and garments has partnered with Green Story, an environmental footprint intelligence platform, to conduct comprehensive Life Cycle Assessments (LCAs) at scale across its product line.

    Underscoring Sapphire Mills’ commitment to transparency and accountability in their sustainability practices, the collaboration’s aim is to “quantitatively measure and communicate” the environmental impact of Sapphire Mills’ products using Green Story’s technology. Green Story conducts LCAs on apparel, accessories, and textiles, collecting data at every stage of a product’s development. The platform provides a comprehensive analysis to evaluate the environmental and social impact of each component and supplier.

    With Green Story being an official Higg FEM Verifier bodies globally, Sapphire Mills said the accreditation “ensures that every piece of primary data collected during verifications adheres to stringent protocols, guaranteeing high-quality and credible environmental assessments.”

    Green Story presents the findings in a visually engaging format that follows global standards and regulations. Each product will be accompanied by a digital product passport accessible via QR codes, enabling customers to trace their environmental journey from raw materials to finished goods.

    By quantifying their environmental impact through LCAs, Sapphire Mills said it will be able to set Science Based Targets and gain insights into their Scope 3 emissions. Sapphire said this data-driven approach not only strengthens their commitment to sustainable manufacturing but “also enables informed decision-making that drives positive environmental outcomes.” The company has already invested in a state-of-the-art effluent treatment plant, a biomass-powered cogeneration plant, and the development of various recycled and biodegradable polyester products.

    Green Story has more than 150 customers across 15 countries, including vertical denim manufacturers Soorty and AGI Denim and on-demand denim manufacturer Unspun.
