    New Mexico offering grants for projects celebrating the Route 66 Centennial

    NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – The New Mexico Tourism Department has opened up a grant program for businesses and organizations wanting to participate in the Route 66 Centennial in 2026.

    FEMA rental insurance available for New Mexicans affected by fires, flooding

    The department is offering grants to support events, experiences, infrastructure, destination enhancements and marketing campaigns that related to Route 66 and New Mexico’s role in its history. Nonprofits, cities, counties, tribal governments and special districts are eligible to apply for a grant.

    Applicants for the grant must show how their projects promote the centennial, supports visitation, is tied to the history or is along the route. Applications for the marketing part of the grant close on August 13. Applications for the events and infrastructure grants will close on August 19.
