    VERMILLION COUNTY, Ind. (WTWO/WAWV) — Residents in need now have one more place to look for food assistance thanks to the efforts of the Vermillion County Sheriff’s Office.

    According to a post made to social media, the Sheriff’s Office parking lot is now the home to a permanent food pantry box. The box features multiple shelves and windowed doors allowing residents to see how much is stocked before opening.

    Sheriff Mike Holtkamp thanked former sheriff Bob Spence and his son Jeremy for building and installing the box. Professional Glass donated the materials needed.

    The box will be stocked with food that any resident in need use.

    Sheriff Holtkamp noted that this is not the first box in the county of this sort. The sheriff’s office is located at 1888 S. State Road 63 in Hillsdale.

    While this pantry is the newest in the county, it is not the only one available. Residents can also visit food pantry boxes at the following locations if they are in need of food;
