ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – The Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office is looking to help kids get ready to head back to school by stuffing backpacks with school supplies. BCSO is accepting school supply donations at all of their substations for elementary through high school students.

The department said they see the need in the low-income communities they serve. “We understand the hardship that school brings. Getting school supplies, school clothes. So we thought creating “stuff the Backpack”, we could help alleviate some of that stress,” said BCSO Special Victim Unit Liasion Irene Melendez.

The backpacks are getting stuffed on July 31 with kids going back to school on August 7. To see the list of items needed, click this link for an Amazon wishlist.
