OnPolitics: What to expect on the second day of the RNC

Hey OnPolitics readers! Day two of the Republican National Convention kicks off Tuesday, and Republicans will continue to lay out their pitch to voters after former President Donald Trump officially became the GOP nominee for the 2024 presidential election.

On Monday, Trump announced his running mate, Sen. JD Vance, R-Ohio , and the lawmaker was formally nominated as Trump's VP pick, USA TODAY Network staff reported. The convention is also underway in the shadows of an assassination attempt against Trump , at his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, over the weekend.

📢 Who will be some of the speakers on tonight's schedule? Some of the speakers for Tuesday include former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley, Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis and businessman Vivek Ramaswamy. They all competed with Trump in the Republican primary but ultimately dropped out.

❓ What is the theme for tonight? Day two the Republican National Convention's theme is "Make America Safe Again" and the night will focus on supporting law enforcement, border security and battling human and drug trafficking.

🕰️ How long will the Republican convention be? The Republican convention will continue through Thursday, when Donald Trump is expected to formally accept the Republican nomination.
