FORREST COUNTY, Miss. ( WHLT ) – Forrest County Public School teachers returned to work on Tuesday to plan for the 2024-25 school year.

Students will return to class on Tuesday, July 23. Leaders with the school district said they’re focused on using group and individual teaching methods to make sure each student’s needs and ability to learn are being met.

North Forrest High School is preparing to help incoming freshmen transition to their new environment, while also helping to get seniors ready for college and the workforce.

“You have students on different pathways. You have students that are going to go into the workforce. We have our CTE programs, our digital media, and culinary construction that allows students to get certifications that will help them go out straight to the workforce if that’s what they choose. Our students that are academically bound for college, we offer up to close to 30 hours of college credits here on campus through personal one-on-one classes and online classes at the high school,” said North Forrest High School Principal Jennifer Riels.

“This year, we’ll meet students where they are with whole group instruction, small group instruction, and individualized instruction, making sure that we know which means and ways students learn best, and differentiating our instruction based on students’ needs,” said North Forrest Elementary Principal Torquato O’Neal.

Students at the Forrest County Agricultural High School will also return to class on July 23.
