Country musician John Rich credited God for saving former President Donald Trump’s life during an attempted assassination on Saturday, stating that it is hard for even “the biggest detractors to deny it.”

The shooting occurred when Trump was speaking at a rally in Pennsylvania , during which he moved his head slightly to the right. Very shortly after, gunshots were heard and Trump was seen checking his ear with blood on both his right ear and hand.

“They go, ‘What did I just watch?’” Rich told The Tucker Carlson Show. “You just watched God turn Donald Trump’s head literally a split second, part of a second, right before the bullet whizzed by. I mean, if he’d still been looking this way, it catches him here. He turns this way, it catches him here. We all just watched it. I mean, think about God making His presence known on the biggest possible story you ever could, and the whole world just saw that? So, now you got people going, ‘OK, I believe it, I believe it.’ Because how do you deny that?”

Tucker Carlson concurred, adding that he felt as if “America is a movie and we have no idea how it ends.”

Trump himself has credited God for surviving the assassination attempt, writing on social media that “it was God alone who prevented the unthinkable from happening.” He also mourned the victims of the shooting, including one who was killed and two others who were injured.

Trump and Carlson are set to speak at the Republican National Convention this week, with Trump recently becoming the party’s 2024 presidential nominee. Trump told the Washington Examiner that he rewrote his speech after surviving the assassination attempt, saying this new speech will emphasize unity.
