    How to pay for your E-ZPass with cash: ‘Enjoy the time and money savings’

    NEW YORK (PIX11) — Tri-state area drivers can now sigh with relief as they can start paying their tolls with cash.

    The E-ZPass On-the-Go system offers faster and more convenient toll payment options, according to the New York State Thruway Authority,

    E-ZPass On-the-Go allows busy travelers to open an E-ZPass account without filling out an application or waiting in line,” the E-ZPass website states. “Customers can purchase an E-ZPass tag at a retail location, register the tag, and enjoy the time and money savings E-ZPass offers.”

    Drivers can visit retailers like CVS, 7-Eleven, and Family Dollar with VanillaDirect to pay for an E-ZPass tag or reload their E-ZPass. At checkout, drivers should provide the barcode on their E-ZPass statement.

    There are 100 locations in New York and New Jersey where drivers can find a cash retailer . Drivers must register their tag before taking the car out for a spin.

    There is a $2 fee for E-ZPass On-the-Go payments. E-ZPass New York Service Center recommends holding onto the receipt.
