NORTH DAKOTA ( KXNET ) — In this month’s Director’s Cut, things look a little different with a new face at the helm —but the information came across just the same.

Assistant Director of the Department of Mineral Resources Mark Bohrer delivered the latest production numbers available for the state.

“We are now at over 19,000 producing wells,” he stated. “19,079 during May — that is a new record.”

Oil production was down about 3.9%, which he says is likely due to the road restrictions that took place in May. Gas production was up 5%, and the rig count is currently at 37.

Continuing to go through the numbers, 20 wells are waiting on completion — and when they’re done, Bohrer says that should bring our production numbers up.

He adds the latest figures show that the state is currently producing 1.9 million barrels of oil per day.
