    988 Data

Two years after its debut, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is a proven safety net for thousands of Ohioans each month who face emotional distress or thoughts of suicide.

Since its launch on July 16, 2022, the service has grown steadily. In that time, Ohio’s 19 call centers have responded to nearly 340,000 calls, texts, and chats: an average of more than 14,000 contacts each month.

Ohio 988’s average speed-to-answer rate is 25 seconds, and since its launch, the average amount of calls rolling over to the national 988 network is just 2%.

    Hungry Hummers

LAKE HOPE — Attend Lake Hope’s most popular program of the year and attempt to hand-feed a ruby-throated hummingbird with a vial of sugar water during an event from 1-3 p.m. Thursday. Listen to the natural history of this fascinating creature and how to care for and feed them at your home during the first 30 minutes. The rest of the time it is an open-house style program.

All ages welcome but it is best to be able to sit still and quiet. There will also be yellow jackets and other insects interested in feeding from the sugar water.

The event will be held at the Lake Hope Nature Center in New Plymouth.

    Legion Breakfast
