VIENNA, Ohio (WKBN) – People packed the room Tuesday night for a special meeting of the Vienna Township Trustees after the state declared a fiscal emergency for the township last week.

Items on the agenda included hiring someone for the appeals board, updating the map, paying bills and buying salt for this winter.

Chairman Phil Pegg would not answer any attendees’ questions about the state of the missing funds but told the room the first of the audits have come back and the state will set up a fiscal commission.

One representative plus a trustee will have to sit on that commission.

“I am not planning to do both. It’s going to be one or the other so you guys are going to have to choose,” said Chairman Phil Pegg.

That commission will come up with a way for the township to pay its bills and the trustees will have to execute that plan.

They are not sure yet which trustee will sit on that board.
