FRESNO COUNTY, Calif. ( KSEE/KGPE ) – About $10 million was used to renovate 61 units in the Esperanza Commons Complex.

Community leaders are proud to introduce this new project to residents. There is also no rent increase in the Esperanza Commons Complex.

“The housing here, even with the renovations, does not increase anyone’s rent at all. That’s because of the funding and the financing that our agency has provided for the renovation,” Fresno Housing Authority Ceo, Tyrone Roderick Williams said.

Williams, says he’s committed to providing quality housing that folks can be proud of.

“We are talking about renovations from kitchen cabinets, heating, and cooling system flooring,” Williams said.

All of the upgrades for the Esperanza Commons Complex were paid for by government agencies and donations.

“By contributing funding of this magnitude, it helps those on the lower end of the socioeconomic scale have an affordable place to live and take pride in when they come home. And it’s a good thing for their families,” Fresno County District 1 Supervisor Brian Pacheco Said.

The complex has provided affordable housing to farm workers for over 50 years. The newly renovated units were celebrated and the families who will call these units home also celebrated.

“Our farm-working families need a place where they can raise their families, go to work, and come home and relax in quality housing,” said Williams.

Residents received goody bags of household products, ate tacos, and enjoyed each others’ company, all before heading back to their newly renovated homes.
