TAOS, N.M. (KRQE) – It’s a large planned subdivision that has people living in Taos County divided and the decision to approve the project has been postponed again after huge backlash from Taos Pueblo residents. Community members spoke opposing a 331-acre subdivision development project just a few miles north of Taos and across from Taos Pueblo on the Tarleton Ranch property.

Developers said it would include hundreds of homes and retail stores. Meanwhile, the public voiced their concern. “I know development is coming here. It’s inevitable, but the 30-something years I’ve been here we’ve grown, but compared to Santa Fe or Albuquerque we’re in the slow lane. I implore you commissioners please keep us in the slow lane with the blinker on, ” said a person at the meeting.

Commissioners postponed the decision until August 6.
