The Las Vegas Raiders have a ton of history. They are one of the most respected franchises in all of sports, because of the winning ways they once had, but also their culture. And, let's not forget how innovative they have been and pioneers of certain things as well, with guys like Art Shell and Tom Flores leading the charge. And, of course, Al Davis, too, who is one of the most innovative owners ever, in any sport.
Did I forget to mention he was also a coach while he was the owner?
But, for the last 20 years, a lot of that history has been forgotten That happens when you haven't won a single playoff game in that same time frame. As soon as they win another playoff game, that national respect and remembrance for Al Davis will be back to where it should be. Of course, Raider Nation appreciates what Davis did, but nationally, we do not hear about him as much as we should.
Recently, Deion Sanders shared some thoughts on the great Al Davis.
"That's a legend man," Deion Sanders said at Big 12 Media Day. "He's one of the few in the game that, from the opposing team you just wanted to go and shake his hand. You wanted to get up close and see his drip. Al was a fly, like Al was one of a kind. He was a straight shooter.
"He was also before his time - innovative, creative, and he was that dude, man. So, I was wanted to - I think every player who played in the league at that time wanted to be a Raider in some form or fashion. I did, and that was close [ to happening]."
The Raiders will soon be back to the ways and culture that Dvis established a long time ago. With guys like Davante Adams and Maxx Crosby leading the charge , it won't be long, hopefully.
