PULASKI COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56 ) — Jury duty can be a hassle for many citizens, and a phone scam in Pulaski County may be making it even more challenging.

The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office (PCSO) posted on Facebook around 7 a.m. on Tuesday that it had received complaints about people getting calls that seemed to be from deputies about jury duty summons.

Law enforcement said these complaints from citizens involved someone “claiming to have received phone calls from deputies,” who said on the phone that the target of the scam “[failed] to comply with a jury duty summons.”

The PCSO said the scam is being looked into but urged the public to stay aware as phone scams become more common. Scammers are allegedly even using real deputy names from the area.

“The Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office will not contact a citizen by telephone regarding their failure to comply with a jury duty summons,” authorities said.

The PCSO asked, “If you receive a call that appears to be from the Pulaski County Sheriff’s Office, by someone claiming to be a deputy Sheriff, and are concerned as to whether you have missed jury duty, please contact the Pulaski County Circuit Clerk’s Office to confirm whether you have or not.”
