Red Sox’s Shawn H. P. Smith Chosen for Leadership Florida Cornerstone Class

Shawn H. P. Smith, General Manager of Florida Operations and jetBlue Park at Fenway South, has been selected for Leadership Florida’s Cornerstone Class 42 for the 2024-2025 session.

Established in 1982 by the Florida Chamber of Commerce, Leadership Florida aims to foster a statewide community by identifying and educating individuals who demonstrate the passion, commitment, and positioning to drive positive change.

The upcoming Cornerstone Class features 55 leaders aged 40 and older who will participate in a thought-provoking nine-month educational program. This program consists of a series of two- and three-day sessions held in various cities across Florida. These sessions cover critical issues facing the state, enhance leadership skills through expert-led sessions, and provide relevant information on Florida’s history, demography, diversities, challenges, and opportunities.

A significant and enduring benefit of the program is the opportunity for participants to interact with other leaders from diverse professions, philosophies, and geographies, reflecting Florida’s ethnic and racial diversity. Leadership Florida organizes regular regional and statewide meetings to facilitate ongoing issue-oriented education, advanced leadership training, networking, and collaboration toward shared goals.

Leadership Florida boasts over 3,300 graduates who hold influential positions across the state, including CEOs of major corporations, mayors, elected officials, nonprofit executives, leading academicians, and professionals in various fields. These graduates collectively serve on over 5,000 boards of companies and organizations throughout Florida, demonstrating their commitment to local and state communities.

Class 42 sessions will run from October 2024 through June 2025. Smith manages all Florida business development, community, facility, and event operations for the Boston Red Sox’s Spring Training and oversees all capital improvement projects at jetBlue Park and the adjacent Fenway South parcels.

With over 18 years of experience in various roles within the Boston Red Sox organization and nine years with the National Basketball Association’s league offices, Smith has also served as an executive leadership consultant for numerous industry clients. His expertise includes brand development, revenue generation, and event management.

Smith holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Purdue University and a Master of Science degree from Syracuse University’s Newhouse School.
