An emergency food kit available at Costco is said to prepare customers for any scenario. It includes freeze-dried food servings and costs $79.00 online.

The Readywise Emergency Food Supply bucket includes 150 freeze-dried food servings and a shelf life of 25 years. According to ABC 7, this comprehensive food kid provides 25,280 calories and features a variety of meals such as teriyaki rice, chicken alfredo, potato pot pie, and apple cinnamon cereal. Some Costco locations offer the survival kit at a lower price for in-person shoppers, but online orders ship within 10 to 15 business days.

The kit also went viral on social media, but Costco offers other long-term food storage options. Another option is the Chef’s Banquet one-month supply includes 380 servings and is priced at $189.99. For those who want to stock up a lot of goods, the wholesaler also provides an entire pallet of 36 Readywise buckets, which amounts to 5,400 serving for $2,500.

Some customers went on social media to express how they would spend their money on emergency food kits if a world-changing event like an alien invasion occurred. One user wrote, “So, you realize now, don’t you, that the best place to survive the zombie apocalypse is the Costco itself. No windows, just those roll up steel doors. Food, water, medicine, toiletries/hygiene items, clothing… and now apocalypse kits. Think about it.”

Another said, “I’ve seen food supply buckets like these at Wal-Mart. You can find them in the camping section.”

Don’t be alarmed, however. Costco reportedly started selling the food kits in 2021, and variations have been sold in other retailers for years.
