HONOLULU (KHON2) — Today, breezy trade winds are blowing across the islands due to a strong high pressure system to the north. The atmosphere remains stable and relatively dry. Some scattered clouds can be seen in windward and mauka areas although overall moisture levels are low, especially in the eastern part of the state.

Rainfall has been minimal today, mainly limited to a few light showers caused by afternoon sea breezes along the Big Island’s leeward side. Other showers are light and mostly occurring in windward and mauka regions.

Looking ahead, the forecast for the next week remains stable. The northern high is expected to weaken, leading to lighter trade winds tonight and Wednesday. This stable weather pattern will continue with limited moisture in the trade wind flow, resulting in only modest rainfall in windward areas. Except for a few afternoon showers on the Kona slopes of the Big Island, leeward areas should stay dry.
