Pauline Pitt was chairwoman for the evening, which began in the garden terrace with cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and plenty of conversation about the Three Horsemen of the Apocalypse: Traffic, Overdevelopment, and The New People.

After cocktails, guests moved to the dining room for brief remarks from the chairwoman.

"I have been associated with this remarkable organization for more than 13 years," Pitt said. "I am thrilled to celebrate their significant contribution to education in Palm Beach County. This milestone marks not only a significant achievement for CCE in its launch of The Foundations School, but also reflects the long-lasting change we have been able to bring about in the community."

The evening also celebrated the success of the newly launched Foundations School, CCE's K-5 independent school focused on improving literacy and weaving the arts into academic subjects.

Robert Hamon, president and CEO of CCE, offered an update on the school's mission.

"Our goal is to reach out to the families of those students who are not being successful today in a traditional public-school environment," Hamon said. "We have designed a school where we challenge the norms and test new and innovative approaches to both teaching and learning. Our intent is to answer the question of why so many students are not able to achieve a grade-level performance. The very definition of equity in education is that we provide each student with what they need individually to be successful. I believe that every student deserves the same quality of education that we all want for our children and grandchildren."

The Foundations School aims to enroll students from underserved communities by using a sliding-fee scale to determine family contributions to tuition. Significant scholarships cover the balance, ensuring that no family is turned away for an inability to pay.

The night continued with dinner and dancing.

Patrick and Milly Park were honorary chairman and honorary chairwoman.

The night raised more than $1 million, including a sizable donation from the honorary chairman's Park Foundation.

"It is a privilege for me to stand among so many outstanding philanthropists dedicated to positively impacting Palm Beach County," Park said. "The Center for Creative Education is an extraordinary community resource, and we take great pride in supporting their initiatives along with our close friends. Through our donations today, we have the potential to transform lives and inspire those who dare to dream to continue aiming high."

    More than 100 people attended.
