Summer is in full swing and there is plenty happening across Newport County to keep is busy.

On top of events such as the Infosys Hall of Fame Open at the International Tennis Hall of Fame taking place all week and the Newport Classical Music Festival happening throughout July, and of course free summer concerts happening all week long through the summer, there are events happening this week offering everything celebrating Greece to live dance and even a chance to relax.

Take a look at what's happening this weekend and start making your plans.

Beavertail Lighthouse full moon sound bath

Don’t miss out on this season's Beavertail Lighthouse full moon sound bath on Saturday at 7 p.m. Petra Napolitano and Allison Schumann will lead the sound bath with guests advised to arrive at 6:30 p.m. to settle in.

The event will take place on the lawn of the lighthouse and is free, though donations are welcome to benefit the Beavertail Lighthouse Museum Association. All ages are welcome.

Guests will stretch, breathe, relax and open themselves to the sounds of the bowls and other sound bath instruments. Bring a yoga mat or blanket for your comfort. Call 860-912-5720 for questions or visit beavertaillight.org/ for more information.

Union Public Library Association annual sale

The Union Public Library Association is holding its annual book, bake and yard sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. with a rain date of Sunday, July 21 at the Chace-Cory House, Tiverton Four Corners.

Among the items available for purchase will be jewelry, glassware, games, puzzles, baskets, small household items, toys, CDs, cassettes, artwork, frames and sports equipment.

All proceeds will benefit the Association and will help to maintain the building, grounds, and collection of Union Public Library, the second oldest library in Newport County.

    Hellenic Fest

St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church's annual festival takes place Friday from 6-11 p.m., Saturday from noon-11 p.m. and Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. on the church grounds at 390 Thames St.

The festival dates back to 1983 and transports guests for one weekend from our island to the beautiful islands and mainland of Greece. Each year the residents and visitors of Newport experience the traditional culture, food, pastries, wine, music and dancing which the Greek community of Newport proudly shares during this cultural celebration. There is fun for the whole family as we also have activities specifically for children to enjoy. The Newport Hellenic Dancers are among the highlights. After, be sure to jump in line and dance the night away, as the Greeks love to do, to the wonderful live music of the Athenian Entertainment Greek Orchestra. Enjoy being Greek for the day as you enjoy the sights, sounds, and tastes of Greece at this fun, family-friendly celebration.

Admission is free and for more information visit hellenicfest.org

    Newport Dance Festival

Newport Contemporary Ballet presents the Newport Dance Festival on its festival stage on the lawn of the Great Friends Meeting House, 21 Farewell St., with shows through Sunday beginning at 7:30 p.m. Each evening the performance will feature a unique lineup of dances drawn on the talent, artistry, and unique styles of the festival’s five visiting dance companies, and Newport’s resident Newport Contemporary Ballet.

Patrons are encouraged to arrive early and are invited to bring their own picnic, blankets and lawn chairs to enjoy world-class dance in an outdoor, social setting.

    Family Tree Walk

During the session, explore the trees at the park, discover how they benefit us and other living things, and uncover other fascinating finds along the way. Participants will create their own field guides using leaf and bark rubbings.

The walk is $5 per family. Families facing financial challenges with this fee are encouraged to reach out to our Program Director for assistance (adriana@newporttreeconservancy.org).
