NEW BRIGHTON ― A new program promoted by a country music icon is bringing books to Beaver County children starting in August.

Representatives for the Beaver County Department of Human Services and The Big Brothers and Big Sisters of Beaver County have announced they will officially launch Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library program for children across the region. A part of the Dollywood Foundation nonprofit, the program provides books to young children each month.

"We are extremely grateful and excited to be able to bring the preeminent early childhood book-gifting program in the world to Beaver County children," said Rachel Crisci, executive director of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Beaver County. "This would not be possible without the support of our Beaver County Commissioners: Daniel Camp III, Jack Manning, and Tony Amadio, and Beaver County Department of Human Services.”

Organizers said the local branch of the program will launch from the Cool-Back to School Event at the Beaver Valley Mall on Aug. 1. Event attendees receive information on registering for the program from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. or visit the Imagination Library's website for additional details.
