With the recent cancellation of Tenacious D’s remaining tour dates, fans are increasingly curious about what happened to Jack Black. The abrupt end to the tour has sparked widespread speculation and left many wondering about the impact on the band and its future.

Here is everything to know about what happened between Jack Black and Kyle Gass amid the recent cancelation of tour.

What happened between Jack Black and Kyle Gass?

The Tenacious D tour came to an abrupt halt following a controversial comment made by Kyle Gass about the recent assassination attempt on former US President Donald Trump, according to AP News.

The incident occurred during the band’s show in Sydney, Australia, on July 14, 2024, when Gass, presented with a birthday cake, made an inappropriate remark, “Don’t miss Trump next time.” This comment ignited a social media backlash and led to the postponement of their July 16 concert in Newcastle, New South Wales.

In a statement on Instagram, Black expressed his dismay, stating he was “blindsided” by Gass’ words. He emphasized that he does not support “hate speech” or “political violence in any form.” The musician added that it wouldn’t be “appropriate to continue the Tenacious D tour” under the circumstances and announced that all future plans for the band are “on hold.” Furthermore, Black also thanked fans for their “support and understanding.”

Kyle Gass has since issued a public apology on Instagram and acknowledged it was in poor taste. The comedian and actor wrote, “I don’t condone violence of any kind, in any form, against anyone. What happened was a tragedy, and I’m incredibly sorry for my severe lack of judgement. I profoundly apologise to those I’ve let down and truly regret any pain I’ve caused.”

Following the incident, Michael Greene, Kyle Gass’ agent, has confirmed to BBC News that they have “parted ways.”
