Wednesday's Weather Headline: A big pattern change heads our way soon with lots of rain chances and highs in the 80s if you'll believe that! Read on for more details.
What we're tracking: An upper level trough entering the Northeast Coast going into tonight will continue dragging a cold front that spawned in Canada all the way through the plains and into Texas tomorrow. Unfortunately, this front will stall or dissipate somewhere north of us in Central Texas, but with a stalled front comes continued lift, so shower chances increase going into tomorrow and Friday but calm some over the weekend after the stalled/stationary front is broken down. Then, another upper level low currently located over the West Coast will slingshot around high pressure dominating the Rockies and redevelop over the Central Plains on Saturday. As time passes, this low will deepen slightly as it too stalls over Oklahoma and Kansas swinging rounds of showers and thunderstorms through Texas and the Crossroads. No severe weather is expected at this time. What's a huge relief is our high temperatures drop to the 80s for a few days with the persistent rain chances!
Next 24 hours: Today and tomorrow will likely be the last couple days in the heat and humidity with highs in the Crossroads between the low to upper 90s. Heat indices up to 110 will be possible for some. Rain chances remain at 20% today for a couple spotty showers but bump up to 40% for tomorrow as a line of scattered thunderstorms will approach from the north in the late afternoon as the front begins to stall. Mostly sunny skies will jump back to partly cloudy skies tonight and tomorrow.
Extended forecast: Highs gradually drop from the 90s to the 80s by next week with rain chances ramping up greatly. Highs could stick in the 80s for a few days and we will graciously In other long term good news, the tropics are still nice and quiet! See below for your rainy 7 day Crossroads forecast!
