This basic granola adds a great sweet crunch to lots of desserts and ice creams or eat it plain as a quick snack.

    Simple Homemade Granola

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups old-fashioned rolled oats
    • 1/2 cup nuts, chopped (such as almonds, pecans, or walnuts)
    • 1/4 cup honey or maple syrup
    • 1/4 cup melted coconut oil or vegetable oil
    • 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
    • Pinch of salt

    Instructions:

    1. Preheat and Prepare:
      • Preheat your oven to 300°F. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
    2. Mix Ingredients:
      • In a large bowl, combine the rolled oats, chopped nuts, honey or maple syrup, melted coconut oil or vegetable oil, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Mix well until everything is evenly coated.
    3. Bake:
      • Spread the mixture evenly onto the prepared baking sheet.
    4. Bake and Stir:
      • Bake for 20-25 minutes, stirring halfway through, until the granola is golden brown and crisp.
    5. Cool and Store:
      • Remove from the oven and let it cool completely on the baking sheet. As it cools, it will become crunchier.
    6. Store:
      • Once cooled, transfer the granola to an airtight container. It will keep well at room temperature for up to 2 weeks. Or freeze it for up to 6 months.

    Tips:

    • Customize your granola by adding dried fruit or seeds after baking.
    • Enjoy your homemade granola with yogurt, milk, or as a snack on its own!
