Two young ladies from Northeast Texas are celebrating their first place wins at the 2024 Miss Juneteenth Texas state pageant.

Daingerfield native Kaidlen Key competed in the pageant on Saturday, July 13, and won 1st place in the Miss Juneteenth category in Texas City.

Key also won best in the essay category, as well as in talent. As the first place winner, she receives a scholarship to the college of her choice and a complete package from Noche Berry Salon hair care line. She also gets one-on-one coaching sessions from Director Karrie Hargrave and her entry fee will be covered for the Miss Juneteenth USA pageant that will take place in October. She also will get the chance to compete in Miss Black Texas USA next October at the completion of her reign. The entry fee for that is typically $625 and she will be allowed to compete for free.

Also turning heads was Brenley Maull, who competed in Little Miss Juneteenth Texas and won 1st place. She also won the award of ‘most photogenic’.

Rhylei Porter competed in Jr. Miss Juneteenth Texas and won 1st runner-up. She also won the salesmanship award, bringing in the most money for the pageant.

Key and Maull will move onto nationals to compete in the Miss Juneteenth USA pageant in October.

Very interesting that they still want their own awards but Complain when they're left out of mainstream awards. Sounds like your cake and your cake too
