Popular K-drama Red Swan aired episode 5 on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, at 4 p.m. KST on Disney Plus. The series follows the story of successful golfer Oh Wan-Soo ( Kim Ha-Neul ), who marries the elite Hwain Group heir and heads the charitable NOW Foundation. She meets her bodyguard, Seo Do-Yoon ( Rain ), after he saves her from an attack. However, he hides a secret himself and wishes to expose the conglomerate.

Episode 5 of Red Swan saw Oh Wan-Soo and Seo Do-Yoon make their plan against Hwain Group and investigate several incidents. These include the murders of Do-Yoon’s friend, Ju-Hyuk, and Chairman Kim Duo. Wan-Soo also grieved the loss of her mother and ensured that Chairwoman Park Mi-Ran’s plans to get Chinese ambassadors’ investment were halted. By the end of the episode, Do-Yoon and Wan-Soo fell prey to a fatal attack. Viewers will have to wait and see if they survive.

Episode 5 of Red Swan on Disney Plus began with Oh Wan-Soo reflecting on her past with her mother, who gambled most of the time. As Wan-Soo visited her mother in the psychiatric clinic, the latter apologized to Wan-Soo for gambling all her hard-earned money. Later, Wan-Soo’s mother passed away, leaving her alone and distraught.

Oh Wan-Soo grieves the loss of her mother

Oh Wan-Soo recalled how her mother would hide every time loan sharks would come home asking for money. However, Wan-Soo’s mother arranged for her daughter’s golf career abroad. After her mother’s passing, Wan-Soo decided to seek revenge against Chairwoman Park Mi-Ran, who held her mother hostage in the psychiatric ward.

The following day, Mi-Ran asked Wan-Soo to accompany her to the meeting with the Chinese ambassadors and finalize the duty-free shop investment deal. However, the latter insisted on attending her mother’s funeral. After Mi-Ran blackmailed her, Wan-Soo decided to attend the meeting. Meanwhile, Wan-Soo’s brother finalized the funeral proceedings.

During the meeting with the Chinese ambassador, Mi-Ran’s plan looked favorable. After the meeting, Wan-Soo decided to give her mother a proper funeral. After her brother handed over the ashes while staring at Mi-Ran to keep quiet, Wan-Soo left for her old home with Do-Yoon without informing anyone.

Wan-Soo opened up to her bodyguard about losing her son. Do-Yoon lent his shoulder for her to mourn her family’s loss. However, a spy followed them, clicked their pictures, and sent them to the Chairwoman. Wan-Soo’s husband, Yong-Guk, punched Do-Yoon upon their return, hinting at their affair. Later, Mi-Ran asked her son to move cautiously if he wanted to retain the management rights of Hwain Group and not expose their money laundering secret.

Oh Wan-Soo & Seo Do-Yoon grow closer

Wan-Soo checked up on Do-Yoon after her husband punched him. The latter pulled her into the room, asking her to be with him. Meanwhile, Wan-Soo asked him to be by her side and be a trustworthy aide. Do-Yoon then revealed details about Chairman Kim Duo’s suspected murder and how his friend was murdered while investigating the same.

The two realized that it was highly likely that the same person behind these incidents might be out to kill Wan-Soo as well. However, Wan-Soo asked him to prove his suspicions about the person being a part of the Hwain Group. After an argument with security head Park Kyeong-Ju, he went to investigate the issue further.

Seo Do-Yoon begins his game plan

Do-Yoon went to the Eight Star gang’s casino and tried to meet the boss, who intentionally captured himself on the CCTV cameras before leaving. Meanwhile, the boss informed Park Kyeong-Ju about Do-Yoon’s arrival. When Kyeong-Ju confronted Do-Yoon the following morning, the latter suspected the security head of having a hand in Ju-Hyuk’s death.

When Do-Yoon asked Kyeong-Ju about the suitcase that the latter handed over at the casino, Kyeong-Ju revealed that it had the money that Yong-Guk had laundered. Upon investigating further, Do-Yoon discovered that Chairman Kim Duo had died while pursuing intimate relations, which was later framed as a heart attack at home.

Do-Yoon left after promising to find justice for Ju-Hyuk, laying a trap for Kyeong-Ju to see if the latter was involved in the scheme. At night, he met with Wan-Soo and updated her with all the information. A shocked Wan-Soo asked him to look into Mr. Han, who managed the conglomerate’s slush funds.

Before sleeping, Wan-Soo reflected on her moments with Do-Yoon. The following day, she endorsed a cosmetics brand that launched on the same day as Mi-Ran’s in-laws were promoting their brand as part of the Chinese investment deal. This caused a disagreement between Wan-Soo and her in-laws.

Red Swan episode 5: What happens at the end?

Oh Wan-Soo & Seo Do-Yoon become targets

While heading back after an event with the children, Wan-Soo and Do-Yoon met with a fatal attack. The two were driving back when an unknown man started firing at their car. Will the two be able to make it out safely? Only time will tell.
